How this site handles data

Privacy policy

No accounts, no forms, and no data collected from you directly. This site shows ads; it does not yet run analytics, but this page will be updated the day it does.

Reviewed against published state sources on September 11, 2026. Rules and figures change — always confirm with the Secretary of State before acting.

The short version

This page covers notarypublicsouthdakota.com, an independent reference on becoming and renewing as a South Dakota notary public. It is a plain static website: no accounts, no login, no contact form, no newsletter, no comments and no shopping cart. We never ask for your name, address, date of birth or felony history — the same questions the state's own application asks — and we have no way to collect them directly. One thing runs automatically in the background today: ads served by Google AdSense, described below.

What we do not collect

  • We do not ask for or store your name, email address, postal address or telephone number.
  • We do not ask for or store any government ID, notary commission number, or seal image.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal information, because we do not hold any.

Analytics

This site does not currently run Google Analytics or any other traffic-measurement tool — no analytics tag is installed on any page. If that changes, this section will be updated first, with the specific tool, what it collects, and how to opt out, before it is switched on.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technology to serve ads, measure how they perform, and limit how many times you see the same one. Depending on your location and consent choices, some ads may be personalised using information Google has about you from other sites and services; where required by law, a consent banner asks before any personalised-advertising cookie is set.

You can review and adjust the ad settings tied to your Google Account at myadcenter.google.com, or opt out of personalised advertising across participating sites generally at aboutads.info/choices. Opting out does not stop ads from appearing here — it only stops them from being personalised.

Google's own use of advertising cookies on sites like this one is described at how Google uses information from sites that use our services.

Cookies, and how to opt out

Google AdSense sets its own cookies to serve and measure ads, described in Advertising above. Beyond advertising, this site sets no cookies of its own — there is no login or session cookie, because there are no accounts.

You can block advertising cookies using your browser's settings or a content blocker. Nothing on this site depends on any cookie — every page and section works identically with advertising cookies blocked.

Web fonts

The typefaces used here (Lora and Inter) are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers to fetch the font files. Google's handling of those requests is governed by its own privacy policy.

Server logs

This site is hosted on a third-party hosting platform. Like virtually all web hosts, that platform records standard technical request data — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the referring page and the browser user-agent string — for security, abuse prevention and operational purposes. We do not use those logs to identify individuals. Handling of that data is governed by the hosting provider's own privacy policy.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes — including if analytics is added — the revised version will be posted on this page with a new review date.
